Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID) is the premier design school of Karnavati University, located on a vibrant 33-acre multidisciplinary campus near Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Since its inception in 2011, UID has pioneered a design education ecosystem that prioritizes Learning by Doing. The institute is dedicated to nurturing future design leaders through an immersive environment of modern studios, advanced workshops, and an industry-aligned pedagogy that bridges the gap between academic theory and global professional practice.
As a constituent college of Karnavati University, established under the Gujarat Private Universities Act (2017), UID benefits from a rich multidisciplinary foundation.
Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), UID ensures its degrees carry national prestige and international mobility. Today, UID operates from its state-of-the-art main campus in Ahmedabad and its high-tech UID-NCR campus, serving as a hub for creative innovation across India.
UID offers one of India’s most comprehensive design portfolios across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The 4-year B.Design (Hons.) programs cover 14+ specializations, including:
- Fashion & Communication: Fashion Design & Technology, Fashion Communication & Styling.
- Industrial & Spatial Design: Product & Service Design, Transportation & Mobility Design, Interior & Architecture Design.
- Communication & Digital Media: Animation & Film Making, Interaction Design, and Game Art & Programming.
- Future-Focused Tracks: AI in Creative Practice and the Global Design Programme (GDP), which offers students international exposure across three continents.
At the postgraduate level, UID offers M.Design and M.A. specializations in areas like Visual Experiential Design and Luxury & Brand Management. Furthermore, UID serves as a research powerhouse through its Ph.D. in Design, focusing on sustainable innovation, visual communication, and industrial evolution.
The UID admission process is a rigorous, two-tier journey designed to identify creative potential over rote learning. Prospective students must meet the 10+2 eligibility (min. 50% aggregate) and clear the UID Design Aptitude Test (DAT). Shortlisted candidates then undergo a Creative Assessment, which includes a Situation Test and Portfolio Evaluation to measure hands-on skills and conceptual depth.
